The Cayman Islands Football Association at a press luncheon today welcomed five individuals to the fold of existing referees.

They are Livingston Bailey, Eduardo Gomes, Colin Obi, Andrew Mitchell and Sheldon Anderson. The five gentlemen attended the CIFA Beginners Referee Course offered in September 2002 and passed the exam. They were today presented with their certificates.

Though adding five new referees CIFA still suffers from a shortage of officials available for their weekend matches through out the season. Fred Speirs, The Beginners Referee Course instructor, noted that he was very disappointed with the turn out for the course. Though some 16 individuals registered only a fraction of that number actually attended the three day course.

CIFA has made plans to offer another such course later in the season, which runs from October 2002 to April 2003.

As the 2002-2003 football season kicks off, five new referees will be available for duties at league games. The five were last week presented with certificates of completion of a referees course, courtesy of the Cayman Islands Football Association. Mr. Fred Spiers conducted the course, and along with CIFA President, Jeffrey Webb, presented the participants with their certificates, at a luncheon held in their honour at the Seaharvest Restaurant.
