More Football to come

After last weekends thrashing of Academy and Latinos by Scholars international's 11 / 1 score and George Town's 8 / 0 respectively, fans can gear up to see some really competitive football on Saturday February 2.

Six matches are scheduled for the weekend, all on Saturday as CIFA breaks for Super Bowl Sunday.

The exciting line up this weekend is between Scholars international and Bodden Town FC who last met in the preliminary rounds of the FA Cup competition. Team captain and Goalkeeper Alfredo Whittaker has vowed that Scholars will definitely bury them on Saturday. In his opinion Bodden Town was in a better position last season but is still in a position to do some damage, for that very reason "we don't want them in a position where we'll have to play off with them again. The loss of the FA finals last year was very painful and hard to forget," he said.

Greg Ebanks commented that he thinks it will be a very close game but that Scholars is up to the challenge and the team is pretty much in condition.

At present Latinos is only one point short of taking the rank of second in Zone A from Bodden Town FC. A loss this weekend could work in Latinos favor and give them that edge that they have been fighting for all season. After a nasty loss to George Town last weekend Latinos could definitely take a boost to their moral. But with a break from the field of play this weekend Bodden Town could surely get the time they need to catch up.

FC International will meet Sunset this weekend and still seem to be in the doldrums. FC's team captain Fred Ebanks has recognized a problem with fitness amongst his players and notes that his opponents are just the opposite. He thinks, however, that his team has what it takes and that there is a lot of potential left to surface. A little late in the season to be waiting for potential to rise above the floodwaters isn't it? It looks like sunset may have this one right where they want them.

Sunset's coach, Paul Macey says that his team is always prepared and that his team's preparation for this game will be no different than for any other. Though he admits to some ignorance where his opponents are concerned he seems not to be too concerned about how they play as much as how Sunset will play and what the results will be.

Matches this weekend are set in Northside, West Bay and in George Town at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex:

Future vs. SI International Women 5pm, West Bay
Sunset vs. FC International 5pm, Truman Bodden
Northside vs. Roma 7pm, Northside
Scholars vs. BTFC 7pm, West Bay
Academy vs. Western Union 7pm, Truman Bodden
