He was the first goalkeeping coach on the FIFA staff of instructors and authored the best seller “Soccer Goalkeeping: The last line of defense: The first line of attack.” He is currently also owner/Director of the Top Flight Goalkeeping Academy and the Lincoln Phillips Soccer School, both rated amongst the top three football schools in the US.

A former goalkeeper himself, once holding the Guinness Book Record for the longest consecutive shutouts as a goalkeeper/coach, he has also served as goalkeeping coach for the US World Cup Team.

CIFA President, Jeffrey Webb, hopes that coaches & goalkeepers island wide will take full advantage of all that Mr. Phillips has to offer and strongly urges those directly involved with footballers at all levels to participate. “We are pleased to present yet another opportunity to assist in the development and education of our coaches. We want our coaches to be fully prepared and as effective as possible on the field ”

Mr. Phillips wants specifically to contribute to the development of the goalkeeping education program here in the Cayman Islands and maintains that it’s better to teach a man how to fish than to give him a fish. “I sincerely believe that in order to develop the goalkeepers in the Caymans to their fullest potential, the powers that be must pursue, in a vigorous manner, goal keeping education programs that would improve the training and coaching of goalkeeping coaches.” He strongly believes that every coach should have the ability to coach every player on the team, including the goalkeeper, to success.

Following the Goalkeepers course he will also host an open camp for boys and girls ages 10-20 from June 5th through 8th. Contact the CIFA Office at 949-5775 for more information or download a registration form here.
