Cayman Islands Football Association

Shakeena Bush

Though very young, 13-year-old Shakeena Bush is more than a handful on the football field. Her talent has so stood out; she is the youngest female player to be voted Player of the Month since the start of the football season.

This young lady is as busy as a bee, when she is not playing football, she is either racing go-carts, training for track and field or studying. When asked how she balances all her sporting activities and still manages to be on the honour role at George Hicks High she responds "My parents always tell me that sports can take you far in life but that they also need good grades, so I make sure to study no matter what."

Shakeena started playing football for West Bay Primary boys team as at the time there was no girls team and currently plays for Future FC U14 Boys and Future FC Senior Women's Teams.

She has had the privileged of representing the Cayman Islands in 2001 at the CAC Championships where she earned a bronze medal for her efforts. She is the daughter of Bernie and Blossom Bush, both of whom were also very athletic in their youth and she has a younger brother, Hakeem Bush.
