GTSC and SCHOLARS take the FA Cups

Ash Wednesday, March 5th 2003, marked the culmination of the two Football Association Cup competitions at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

Four teams, George Town and Scholars International women, and Bodden Town and Scholars International men vied for the coveted FA Cups.

The Women played hard and were still at nil all towards the end of the second half, and the match may have ended that way had 19 year old Joni Ebanks of GTSC not seized the opportunity in the closing minutes of the game to hammer home a goal.

The GTSC women were beside themselves with joy. They had missed the opportunity the previous year when Future FC knocked them out in the semi final round. Final score was Georgetown 1 - Scholars International 0.

Later the men took on the task in a true thriller. By the end of the first half the score stood at one all. Nemroy Forbes of Scholars International wasted no time scoring the first goal after only 20 minutes of play. Bodden Town’s Rico Bodden responded three minutes before the end of the half, scoring the equalizer.

Within three minutes of the start of the second half Marshall Forbes sealed the deal scoring Scholars’ second goal. The team defended all the way to the end. Final score was Scholars International 2 - Boddentown 1.

Female MVP went to Joni Ebanks of GTSC and the men’s to Nemroy Forbes of Scholars.
