Ballers meet the Sand This Sunday, Heritage Beach
By Kenisha Morgan
This Sunday January 22 nd ballers will take to the powdery white sands on Heritage Beach, East End for the GOL Beach Football Tournament hosted as one of the many events surrounding the East End Surf Challenge. It will be a meeting like no other of the sun, sand and ballers battling for top honours.
The event which is sponsored by Admiral Administration's Ltd. and sanctioned by the Cayman Islands Football Association will get cracking early with the youth at 9:00 a.m. followed by the seniors at 11:00 a.m.
Fans are encouraged to get to the venue early, with coolers, sun block and visors in tow, as this promises to be a hot, hot affair. The best spots for viewing the action up close and personal, by the touch line, will be taken early so mark your calendars and hit the road with time to spare.
Lee Ramoon, who has been working closely with organizers 2Frenzied Ltd. says he's looking for no more than eight teams in each of these tournaments.
Two zones, each comprising four teams, will be appointed. Within these zones teams are expected to play each other three times, the winners and runners up moving on to the semi-final round. Youth matches will be 10 minutes each, 5 minutes per half, while senior matches will be 14, 7 minutes per half.
Nothing will be left to chance as goal differences at the end of the day's proceedings will be taken into consideration to determine a winner. Otherwise teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and none for losing.
Tickets are $5.00 and are available at Funky Tangs, Reflections, from any 2Frenzied member or at the gate.
