CIFA’s President, Mr. Jeffrey Webb, thanked Digicel once again for their support and sponsorship of the Cayman Cup, which is now on its second year, “We want to express our gratitude to Digicel for partnering with CIFA to sponsor the Cayman Cup for the second year in a row. We expect this to be an even bigger success than last year”.
Ms. Gemma McLaughlin-Roberts, Senior Marketing Executive for Digicel, expressed her delight at sponsoring the Cayman Cup together with CIFA, “We look forward to an even more exciting season than the previous one; we are happy to support Cayman’s first sport and right now we are working on our Giveaways Plan for the season, with lots of prizes for the fans and supporters”.
The winners for the 2005/2006 CIFA Digicel Cayman Cup were Money Express (now W. D. United FC). Mr. Steve Reid, representative for the team, said “Our squad is not the same as last season, given all the internal changes within the club. We are in the process of rebuilding our first eleven with new players when the registration window opens in January 2007. However, we will try to do our best to repeat the success of last season and emerge victorious once again”.
First round matches are scheduled for the weekend of December 16 th and 17 th, 2006. Kick-off time is at 4 p.m. All other games played that weekend will start at 6p.m. Venues will be the Annex and North Side fields. There will be six games in round one.
