Whittaker knocked out of Contention
By Kenisha Morgan, April 21, 2004
FC International’s 2003-04 top scorer Gary Whittaker
has been knocked out of contention by George Town forward
Michael Wilks.
Wilks who took over the top spot with a total of 12 goals
under his belt just beat out FCI’s Gary Whittaker by
one goal. But with FC International’s recent loss to
Scholars this past weekend, knocking them out of the Foster’s
League finals, Whittaker has no chance of reclaiming his title
this season.
The current leading goal scorers are as follows:
Goals Player Team
12 - Michael Wilks (George Town SC)
11 - Gary Whittaker (FC International)
9 - Lennox Carradice (North Side)
9 - Nemroy Forbes (Latinos FC)
9 - Marshall Forbes (Latinos FC)
With both Whittaker and Carradice out of the running, North
Side SC was knocked out in the semi-final round by Latinos,
one of the Forbes brothers can now attempt a tie with Wilks
for the title.
Marshall and Nemroy Forbes have demonstrated their value
to Latinos FC with an aggregate score of eighteen goals this
season. The power-house duo who transferred from Scholars
at the start of the 2003-04 season have scored nine goals
each and now have a shot at the title with one game remaining
before the season’s end.
Three goals either way would mean a tie with Wilks for the
trophy. With one mammoth obstacle, Scholars International,
between them and the goalmouth it will be interesting to see
if either of the brothers can pull off this feat.
