Scholars/Latinos Pumped and Ready to Go
By Kenisha Morgan
April 20, 2004

Scholars International representative Greg Ebanks says the team will be focusing on ball possession for the Foster’s League Grand Finale against Latinos this Sunday at the Annex.

With no injuries and every man in fine shape and ready to go Ebanks thinks Scholars is a superior team to Latinos, mainly due to the fact that the majority of his players have been together for several years, while their opponents Latinos have quite a few fresh members.

Currently defending champions, Scholars International, lost two principle players Marshall and Nemroy Forbes following last season’s victory. The powerhouse duo moved to Latinos and have not looked back since.

Marshall, who now plays midfield for Latinos, thinks he’s in a good position to use his knowledge of Scholars’ match preparation methods against them in the finals.

He and his brother have joined efforts and are helping map strategy against their former team. “I personally know what’s going on in the camp now,” he said, “…and what will probably go on on the field.” He later added that it’s not a case of wanting to sell out his former team but wanting the best for Latinos. He indicates that he feels compelled to share information with his coach and teammates that will benefit his team on Sunday.

The teams have already met twice this season, both drew 3 all on one occasion, and Scholars lost 2/0 to Latinos on another. Forbes maintains that his knowledge of Scholars style and in-house preparation helped in both instances.

Latinos is in no way intimidated by the former champions and are anxious to meet them on Sunday evening. “Scholars is a great team,” said Forbes, “All we have to do is just step up the pace and watch particular players,” though he wouldn’t say who those players were.

The Scholars / Latinos show down is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Sunday April 25th at the T.E. McField ‘Annex’ Football Field.

Both teams encourage their fans to come out, giving reassurance that the match will be both highly competitive and entertaining.
