Sunset beat FC Inter-national 3-0
last Saturday.
FC deserved to be beat because they
seemed to be half asleep for the first 45 minutes. The
main problem lay with FC's defense in that it seemed
to be completely disjointed. Sunset saw it and took
advan-tage giving FC's keeper - Saul Andrade - a hard
time, although he tried hard. Sunset, however, had a
bagful of chances and should have been four or five
up at half time.
The first goal came 29 minutes into
the first half courtesy of Gary McLean.
Goal number two should have come two
minutes later when Sunset got a penalty after one of
their players was brought down. Gareth Thacker stepped
up to take it but put it well over the bar. A bad miss.
The second goal did come shortly after that off the
foot of big Ian Lo-mass leaving the score at half time
2-0 to Sunset.
It was dismal first half. FC were
half asleep and they paid for it.
Sunset however should have bagged
a few more. Nonetheless, they came out in the second
half with the advantage.
FC played much better in the second half, in par-ticular
veteran national team player Locksley Haylock showed
flashes of brilliance reminiscent of his glory days.
Turning player for the night, the normally FC coach
had some great moments running through four men at one
point. FC kept looking for a goal and had a good few
chances towards the end but Sunset's Tom Elliot put
a stop to hope of a comeback 20 minutes from time. The
national team player planted the ball in the back of
the net making it number three for Sunset.
FC never stopped trying but it was
too little too late from the FC boys and in the end
Sunset walked away with a de-served win.
FC coach Locksley Haylock agrees. "Our backs were
disorientated and they took advantage of that. They
won the game and they deserved it."
Sunset coach Paul Macey says he is
pleased with the win but not pleased with how many chances
his players missed. "I think 3-0 flattered them.
At the end of the day we were a stronger side."
