Scholars stay on top

Scholars stay on top of the Foster's League table after beating Sunset 1-0 last Sunday. In the second game of the day. in a wet West Bay FC International beat Future 3-2.

The Scholars game was far from entertaining. Given their current position and their past performances, fans should have seen a better show. Sympathy, however, must go to Sunset because they did put up a good fight but they had plenty of chances. They just couldn't score. Sunset did find the back of the net once but fortunately for Scholars it was ruled offside. In fairness, Sunset's chances were denied by good keeping from Scholars' goalie Alfredo Whittaker combined with their own poor finishing.

Scholars had a few chances too. 25 minutes in to the first half Chris Douglas made a beautiful pass to Eric Brown. Too hasty in his move, Brown wasted a good chance and put it over the bar. Five minutes later Brown, however, made up for his mistake and taking on the keeper he blasted the ball in the back of the net to score the only goal of the night.

There was little to write home about in the second half only that it was marginally better than the first half. Full-time score, Scholars 1, Sunset 0.

The next game saw a much improved FC International take on a fiesty Future team. For most of the first half, players battled in the heavy and persistent rain. Both teams were pretty much on a par with each other. There was some good defending in particular from FC players Dennis Rowe and Winston Gall.

The second half saw all the action. Both teams had penalties which they converted but in the end FC came through winners.
