FIFA/CONCACAF Seminar in Cayman 27-29 April

The Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) creates regional history with the hosting of the region’s first ever FIFA/ CONCACAF Technical Director Seminar in the Cayman Islands April 27-29, at the Westin Hotel on West Bay Road.

The seminar will be conducted by FIFA Course Instructor Alvin Corneal and other FIFA/CONCACAF presenters. It will cover areas relating to FIFA Grassroots programmes, Club administration and management, road mapping of future projects, Current situational analysis, Needs and challenges as well as Technical Development and Marketing.

President of CIFA Jeffrey Webb, said he was elated to learn that his country was unanimously selected to host this historic event, which will be attended by persons from all over the footballing world.

“Words cannot express how proud we are to be hosting this inaugural event. This is indeed a great moment for us at CIFA and the Cayman Islands on a whole to be selected as the hosts for this historic seminar.”

“It’s our intention to exhibit the highest level of hospitality during this occasion, to ensure that everything is done in a professional and esteemed manner so that the administrators and our visitors will be impressed and place us on the top of their list of choices of hosts countries  recommended for this and other types of seminars in the future.”

“I thank FIFA and the organizers for selecting the Cayman Islands as the first location for this seminar and we will be placing tremendous efforts into all aspects of the activities of these three days to make our guests as comfortable as possible,” Webb outlined.   

This course will be attended by participants from not just the Caribbean but the United States of America and Canada, who were particularly selected and invited by FIFA.

FIFA will be holding similar seminars in the future in each confederation and a host of distinguished representatives from the FIFA Technical Department and Development office will also be attending this event.

The Cayman Islands own National Technical Director Carl Brown will be in attendance representing the Cayman Islands and doing a presentation on the islands technical structure.

The distinguished Alvin Corneal is an enthusiastic sports personality who has mastered several aspects of sports as a player, commentator and sports presenter for over two decades. He has represented his country at the national level in Football and Cricket and has demonstrated his skill in Tennis, Hockey and Golf at the highest level as well. 

He is no stranger to the Cayman Islands where he has made several visits before, conducting other football courses and seminars in his role as a FIFA Instructor.

Corneal holds a FIFA coaching Instructor’s License, an English FA Advance Coaching Certificate, An Advance Cricket Coaching Certificate and a Sports Marketing and Promotion certificate. His football career at the national level started in 1955 and ended in 1969 with 119 appearances. He is a qualified Commentator and a Sports News Presenter and one of the few sportsmen to represent Trinidad and Tobago in two Major Sports namely Football and Cricket.  

CIFA and the Cayman Islands, welcomes this group to the region as the nation ascends the sporting ladder to establish a global relationship in the football fraternity and develop the youths in this notable sports.
